Gates for Garden and Driveway
Whether you need a fence for privacy, shelter, security, to define a boundary, or pet containment, or just to enhance your garden-scape, we can provide the right choice and style of fencing for you. All our timber posts are pressure treated to hazard class 4 (a timber treatment protection for use in contact with soil or fresh water) for a prolonged rot-free life. The option of a 30-year life treatment for fence posts is also available.
To the right is an overview of the fencing types we offer.
Vertical Hit and Miss
For locations which bear the full brunt of Cornwall's gales with little shelter from buildings or trees, Hit-and-miss fencing allows the wind to flow through while maintaining a visually solid face for privacy or to screen an unwanted view. For the best visual results we offer planed treated timber redwood boards. Lower priced sawn treated timber is offered as an alternative.
There are several design varieties to suit the situation or the customer’s wishes which we are happy to discuss.
We have installed over 250 metres of vertical hit-and-miss fencing to date. (1998 - 2010)
Horizontal Hit and Miss
For locations which bear the full brunt of Cornwall's gales with little shelter from buildings or trees, Hit-and-miss fencing allows the wind to flow through while maintaining a visually solid face for privacy or to screen an unwanted view.
There are several design varieties to suit the situation or the customer’s wishes which we are happy to discuss.
We have installed over 460 metres of horizontal hit-and-miss fencing to date. (1998 - 2010)
Close Board
Closeboard has upright planking with gaps between to allow the wind or sunlight through. The gaps can be set close for increased privacy, or wider for improved wind flow or to let light into a garden.
There are several design varieties to suit the situation or the customer’s wishes which we are happy to discuss.
We have installed over 270 metres of close board fencing to date. (1998 - 2010)
Feather-edge
Feather-edge fencing has individual pressure-treated slats, wedge-shaped in section, which overlap each other to form a strong, rigid fencing. A feather-edge fence provides a solid boundary structure for complete privacy or shelter.
There are several design varieties to suit the situation or the customer’s wishes which we are happy to discuss.
We have installed over 3000 metres of feather-edge fencing to date. (1998 - 2010)
Panels
We can provide many varieties of fencing panel styles and shapes to offer, with or without trellis top. Basic ‘Overlap panel’ fencing is the lowest cost solid timber fencing, though we advise it only to be used in sheltered locations where panels will not be put under repeated stress from high winds. This is less of a consideration if the height of the fence is kept at 4ft or below. We use only the best locally-constructed panels, which are built from pre-tanalised component parts as opposed to the mass-produced ‘dipped’ treated panels that are widely available elsewhere.
We have installed over 900 metres of panel fencing to date. (1998 - 2010)
Trellis
We make and install various styles of bespoke trellis fencing to measure as well as lower cost conventional trellis panels of square or lattice design. Trellis tops can be added to other fencing types for decorative reasons or as a way to increase garden security by deterring intruders as recommended by the police.
Other Garden Fences
Below, you'll see a few more photographs of our garden fences that haven't already been detailed on this page including estate railings (main picture), and picket fencing.
Bespoke Designs
We will happily design and install any variety of fence, hand rail or timber garden feature that you desire, reproduce an existing feature or build to your own design. Pergolas, rope hand rails, fruit cages, steps, rose-arches, car-ports, seagull-guards and bin-stores; all can be (and have been) built for our customers.
Cat and Dog Fencing
Dogs - If you want to keep your dog in your garden without worrying he'll escape we have the solution. We are proud to present our own design of fence for dog containment - 'magic dog fence'. Wire mesh can look unsightly in many garden situations. We use a green PVC coated galvanised wire mesh which is of a design suitable for all sizes of dogs together with green coloured galvanized low profile posts to create an inconspicuous barrier. The fence can be installed in almost any situation; on top of a stone wall or Cornish hedge; tight up against shrubs; across lawns. It blends in with its surroundings and is ‘see through’ so it won’t obscure a view or stand out against a background.
A lower cost galvanised mesh with conventional posts is available where the overall looks of the fence is less of a concern.
Cats – Keep your cat from straying from your garden or yard and/or stop other peoples cats getting in. Cat proof netting made from nylon fishing net can be added to new or existing fences or wall. Available in green, black or blue (see photo below). Please call for details.
We have installed over 2000 metres of dog-proof fencing. (1998 - 2010)
